Sri Lanka comes to Jersey
This November and December the island of Jersey will be celebrating the island of Sri Lanka with a series of events.

From November 20th to December 2nd Jersey-based artist Ian Rolls is bring an enlarged version of his exhibition A Year in Sri Lanka to the Jersey Arts Centre.

The exhibition was originally shown at the Galle Fort Gallery in Sri Lanka and chronicles the 12 months the artist spent in the country painting and teaching art in areas affected by the Boxing Day tsunami of 2004.

Mr Rolls' unique style involves bold colours and "wrong hand" drawing.

From December 5th to 16th the A Life In Sri Lanka will show works by the island's artists and children.

All works will be up for sale with money raised going to a children's art project and a centre for the disabled in Sri Lanka.

Both exhibitions kick off with a gala opening evenings.

Later in December the Jersey Arts Centre will be celebrating the 150th anniversary of Henry Thomas Bosdet's birth in Jersey. The 19th century artist was famed, among many things, for his stained glass windows.
