Jersey's Longest Night
Jersey will be celebrating the winter solstice and the longest night of the year with the Festival of Lights.

The Royal Square in St Helier will host the event and celebrate the coming of winter on December 21st.

Besides the light show and a burning wheel, performers will entertain the crowds with story-telling.

Mince pies and mulled wine will also be on offer to warm visitors and late night shopping will allow people to do some Christmas shopping.

The light show will take place from 18:00 to 19:30.

Throughout December the streets of St Helier are illuminated with a canopy of lights and events take place for La Fete De Noue.

On December 21st and 2nd, the Jersey Arts Centre will be getting in the festive mood with its tongue-in-check 'anti-pantomime'.

Hair of the Turkey IV: Dipsomatic Immunity will include sketches all with a Christmas theme and audiences are invited to take part in the fun with a fancy dress contest and a mince pie raffle.

Organisers say the show took "two years of planning, five minutes (ish) of rehearsal" and offers songs, sketches and jokes old and new.
