Insurance Terms and Conditions

Drivers under 21 years can hire Group A or Z vehicles only, must have held their licence for 1 full year and there is an additional insurance supplement of £10 to be paid.

Drivers over 21 and under 25 are permitted to drive Group Z-B only

Drivers over 80 years can hire from Falles Hire Cars but must provide their own fully comprehensive insurance cover.

All named drivers are insured for third party liability. Collision Damage Insurance (C.D.I.) is a comprehensive policy that may be purchased at the time of hire which exonerates the client from any damage caused to the vehicle except in the following circumstances:

  1. A £100 irrecoverable excess will be charged for damage to vehicles in Group Z - C and £250 excess on all others where the client(s) is/are at fault in an accident whether or not a third party vehicle is involved.
  2. C.D.I. does not cover, and hirers are liable for the full cost of repairing/replacing, tyres, wheels, wheel trims, wing mirrors, keys/immobilisers, or damage to the vehicle interior unless such damage is caused as a result of an accident with a third parties vehicle.
  3. C.D.I. cover may be invalidated if the hirer(s) is/are in breach of the Island Motor Traffic Law and/or the car rental company's conditions of hire and under such circumstances the hirer(s) may be liable for the full repair/replacement cost of the vehicle.

Customers who decline to pay for C.D.I. may be asked to leave a deposit/credit card imprint or arrange their own fully comprehensive insurance cover for which there is an administration charge.

Falles Hire Cars reserve the right to refuse to supply a vehicle where fully comprehensive insurance cover is not provided.
